Mista Karoge Insights

Lots happened in the karaoke scene this year 2012 and most of it captured on my Facebook page 'Malcolm Ouma'. I have meant to keep posting weekly but seems I'll settle for ten posts per year.

In retrospect its quite easy to create an idea wacha you start writing. You discover you don't have enough descriptive to narrate the story. But push has come to shove (wow) and I at last have to do it - goodbye Mr. Procrastination. Anyway, 2012 has seen significant corporate and street cred shifts in the karaoke industry. Below are seven random things you should know. I will be mentioning them in the next nine posts so focus...

We are the only licensed karaoke supplier licensed by Music Copyright Society of Kenya.

From studies done by random Pakistani opinion pollsters it was concluded that the most banging karaoke joints are Zeep (Kimathi St), Jacks Bar (Riverside Dr), Bells Inn (Nyeri), Galileo Xtreme (Nakumatt Lifestyle) and Santa Fe Grill & Lounge (The Mall, Westlands).

Big up to Bells Inn in Nyeri for celebrating there first karaoke anniversary with pomp and glamour.

www.karoge.co.ke is the only web/mobile platform that distributes karaoke downloads of Kenyan local songs.

Mista Karoge and Denise Gordon have set up the first karaoke hosting workshop curriculum that is participatory and practical based. Check out the Facebook group Karaoke Host Workshop 101 and Karaoke Academy.

The top five hostesses in the Kenyan scene are (not in any order); Sanaipei Tande, Denise Gordon, Regina Re, Nice Githinji and Myra.

With about twenty karaoke shows per week going on in Nairobi ... lets say 12 liters of Tequila is consumed absolutely FREE.

Tilapia Fridays at Jacks Bar hosted by Denise Gordon and Mista Karoge has become what cults are made of. Singing non stop from 8pm till past midnight the karaokers here follow this shebang like an addiction.
