If you had the privilege of going to Pots & Palms Bar & Grill during #TilapiaKaraoke reign, you'll know it was one of the most fun bars in the city… and potentially the most COVID-friendly (meaning, bad).

Up to 40 patrons would pack the 240sqft space to belt out old standards from Frank Sinatra and System of a Down. Corporate sharks from Riverside Drive would file in, ties in tow, to chug cold beers and botch "Gangstas Paradise."

It was the kind of place where people would actually buy a round of shots for everyone at the bar, and you could probably make out with someone within 20 minutes if you were so inclined.

Everybody knew your name, mainly because they had to call you up to the stage. It was sublime (as long as no one sang Sublime).

Before covid19 hit the Funky Diva Dee flew to the states and the establishment got new management.

#TilapiaKaraoke created an international fan base that eagerly awaits a reunion. After the lockdown and curfews everyone is ready for anything covid19 compliant.

As the world reopens and we emerge from the global pause brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are keenly aware that we are entering a new season. We are in a transition to a repositioning in the disruption, and new structures and processes are replacing the old.

With SOCIAL DISTANCING, for us in our industry it has already meant a shift in focus regarding the importance of digitally augmented events, instead of the crowded events of previous times.

It’s important to conceptualise events that can run offline (physical venue) and online (live stream) simultaneously.

We think the karaoke scene in Nairobi has missed that something extra we had.

The space is virgin again with only two karaoke shows happening in Nairobi.

Covid19 has normalised live streaming with every one of our fans having participated in a zoom meeting.

Denise Gordon aka Funky Diva Dee will host virtually from Los Angeles via Zoom. Using this technology we can engage online participants live.

Covid19 Preparedness

Sanitization - Sterilizer and Hand Sanitizer.

Protective Equipment - Hand Gloves, Antimicrobial, Disposable Microphone Covers.

Social Distancing - The number of singers is limited so that fans remain at least six-feet apart.

See you inside next Sunday?
