I have not posted anything for two weeks now - procrastination and uzembe; and now am testament to the wahenga's "msema kesho ni mwongo.."
The past two weeks of karaoke have been frantic and almost all out chaotic. This compounded by the Mututho Laws has left many drinking dens immobilized after 11pm; inversely affecting karaoke kishenzi. We are depressed but we are fighting back - the good battle.
As a constitutional right we need a place where we can drink to our full then sing on quality PA Mugithi sing alongs. How many walevi's do you see on the streets singing there hearts out - bila plan. We want to put a design to tap on this merriment - karaoke.
This year we are organizing the Karaoke World Championship (KWC) 2011 whose finals will be in Ireland later on in the year. KWC is in over 30countries worldwide with the headquarters in Helsinki Finland. The Kenyan edition will feature 3 cities, 11 towns, 74 establishments and over 5,000 karaoke singers in less than two months of competition. the winners will win mobile phones, cash awards, airtime and recording deals.
The other week we had akina Manga, Big Pin, Dj Styles, Dj Enruff, Big Kev, Madtraxx passing over at Gallileo Lounge after the DJ Mfalme launch. It was a fantastic after party with them celebs having a singing show down plus downing a lot of tequila.
Friday's karaoke at Pots & Palms, Riverside Drive has become a legend. The crowd usually comprises mature folks singing classics and rumba.
